Day 30

Wed. 1/30/2013

I'm kind of a drill sergeant when it comes to bedtime.  I'm not flexible at all on the 8:00 in-your-bed time, and the girls know that they better not get out of bed unless it's to go to the bathroom...because if they do Mommy tends to get mean.  I need those couple hours of (childless) peace to regroup and recharge.

However, my absolute favorite part of the day is going back into the rooms after they've fallen asleep to re-tuck them in.  There is something so peaceful and innocent about sleeping children.  It doesn't matter what they've done to me throughout the day, this time always reminds me how much I love them and how blessed I am to have these perfect, beautiful little girls.  And then I can get up and do it all again the next day.

Day 29

Tues. 1/29/2013

Krista Mae is terrified of tornadoes.  Last night there was lots of thunder, lightening, rain, wind...and several tornado warnings.  It just about did her in.

Day 28

Mon. 1/28/2013

For Family Night the last couple of weeks I've told the girls some of their family history stories.  They like to find the names of different ancestors on my geneology chart.  Kimberlee noticed there were many who were born in England and said, "Oh!  So that's why I have a little bit of a British accent!"

Day 25

Fri. 1/25/2013

Have you ever wanted to see the inside of your washing machine?  Yah, me neither, but I got to the past couple days when I took it apart to replace a broken part.  Fascinating.

Day 24

Thurs. 1/24/2013

Krista brought home some writing projects today.  This was one of them and it gave me a giggle.

"Krista, what did you get for Christmas?"
"A headache and a webkinz named Pup"

Day 23

Wed. 1/23/2013

Last day of antibiotics.  Yay!  Kassie hated this medicine.  To get her to open her mouth I kept telling her it would help her not be sick.  She finally started telling me, "I want to be sick!" when it was time for a dose.  So glad that's done.  Now I'm super hopeful that Keira's ear pain isn't really an ear infection.  Please.

Day 22

Tues. 1/22/2013

Boring day.  So boring I had to take pictures of myself.

Day 20

Sun. 1/20/2013

Sunday nap.  This little devil definitely needed one after how she behaved at church.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Day 18

Fri. 1/18/2013

The most significant thing about yesterday?  My bed is made...because I didn't have to lay down in it all day.  Progress.

Day 17

Thurs. 1/17/2013

Krista: "Mommy, have you just been laying down all day long?"
Me: "Um....yah, pretty much."
Kassie: "Mommy, I go play on the jumpoline?"
Me: "No baby."
Kassie: "Oh, because we very, very sick?"

The 2 littlest shut-ins were a little giddy over the chance to get out of the house for a few minutes, even if it was just to pick up Kimberlee from violin class.  Sorry all my posts have been about being sick.  It has consumed our week.

One more little Kids-Say-the-Darndest-Things...
I was trying to explain to Keira why I seem a little grumpy right around their bedtime.  Kimberlee jumped in: "Keira, it's like this.  Mom is like a restaurant.  She serves us all day long, but she closes at 8:00."  Smart girl.

Day 16

Wed. 1/16/2013

Krista woke up and said, "I feel like I need a break from school."  Lucky for her, she also woke up with a barking cough and sniffles, so she got to join the sickies for the day.  I was grateful for a playmate for Kassie while lying on the couch myself, dreaming of healthier days.  We just can't seem to get rid of this.

Day 15

Jan. 15, 2013

Sleet, snow and freezing temperatures = icy roads = early out for school.  I didn't worry about the younger two - their school is 5 minutes down the road - but I was a little nervous for my middle schooler who had to travel down a highway that can be scary under the best weather conditions.  In the weirdest happening of all, the 2 buses arrived at the same time (Kim's is usually 20-30 minutes behind the elementary school's).  Grateful to have all my chickadees safely under my roof again.

Monday, January 14, 2013

Day 14

Jan. 14, 2013

Another round of antibiotics for the littlest princess.  We thought she was better...ear infection, cough, fever, congestion, aches (aka the flu) just won't leave her alone!

Day 13

Jan. 13, 2013

Two new "do's," ready for Stake Conference.

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Day 12

Jan. 12, 2013

Battle wound.  That school courtyard had no idea what hit it.

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Day 11

Jan. 11, 2013

Someone thinks my Christmas present is actually hers.

Friday, January 11, 2013

Day 10

Jan. 10, 2013

5th grade homework.  In this particular case it was breaking down paragraphs about the Revolutionary War.  History is my favorite.  Kimberlee's...not so much.

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Day 9

Jan. 9, 2013

Somedays it is really tough to be 3.  Especially cold, rainy days that Mommy spends on the computer making photo books.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Day 8

Jan. 8, 2013

All hung up and ready to be cut down.  One day at a time...
I'm looking on the bright side - this could be 3 times as long.  Love and hugs to my (several) friends dealing with that right now.

Day 7

Jan. 7, 2013

FHE activity: making a paper chain.  A tradition of deployments for us.  This one is the longest one we've made.

Sunday, January 6, 2013

Day 6

Jan. 6, 2013

So excited to be the newest, tiniest Sunbeam!  I wasn't in primary, but I hear she did awesome!  She "offered to read the scripture" (i.e. she wouldn't stay sitting down), and helped hold a picture for a song.

Day 5

Jan. 5, 2013

We hate goodbyes.  130 days (give or take) and the reunion with our favorite guy will be sweet.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Friday, January 4, 2013

Day 3

Jan. 3, 2013

Sponge curlers.
Krista is on top, Keira on bottom.

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Day 2

Jan. 2, 2013

Ed packed for his upcoming "extended vacation."  Amidst that fun, he also took his three older girls on Daddy/Daughter dates.

Day 1

Jan. 1, 2013

The makings of a fabulous, lazy New Year's Day.  Bring on 2013!

The beginning

I am going to attempt to take a picture a day.  I am not doing this to show off my photography skills, or to try to hone my photography skills, or to get to know my camera...in fact it's really not about the photography at all.  Some days there may be nice pictures where I take the time to set up the shot and figure out my settings.  Other days the picture may be a snapshot.  What this is about is documenting our family's daily happenings.  Most will find it boring.  But to us, these daily happenings make up our life.  Welcome.  Welcome to our life.
