The Sass all ready to go to soccer.

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Day 86

Wed. 3/27/2013

Tickles and giggles.  Kassie has had a destructive week, so it is always nice to have her favorite little friend to distract her from mischief.

Day 85

Tues. 3/26/2013

Kassie's first dentist appointment.  Besides trying to hop off the chair every time they took their hands out of her mouth, she did great!  4 for 4 with no cavities!

Day 84

Mon. 3/25/2013

It begins again.  This was a miserable day to start soccer - it was FREEZING!  Keira is the one in the crazy socks.

Day 83

Sun. 3/24/2013

Had a "Kathryn day."  When I got to church I was asked if I would say a few words during Primary about Kathryn and the resurrection.  I am always happy to talk about her, so of course I agreed.  Jr. Primary got a crying, blubbering mess.  I held it together a little better for Sr. Primary.  Then in Relief Society I got to sit next to a brand new baby.  The whole room seemed to be filled with that new baby smell, which was both wonderful and heartbreaking.  My dear ward family recognized my struggle and gave me even more hugs than normal.  Tonight I spent a little time with Kathryn's box.  I didn't get very far - I smelled her blanket and read 2 letters from family members, cried for a little while, then put the box away.  I feel good.  Sometimes crying over her is the best thing for me.

Day 82

Sat. 3/23/2013

Saying goodbye.  Love this girl.

Day 81

Fri. 3/22/2013

Lizzy and Keira making Ooey Gooey Cookies.

Day 80

Thurs. 3/21/2013

Kassie on rollerskates for the first time.

Day 79

Wed. 3/20/2013

Road-trippin' girls.  We took off for Oklahoma City to visit my amazing friend Cynthia and her kiddos, who also happen to be husbandless/fatherless during their Spring Break.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Day 78

Tues. 3/19/2013

3 dentist appointments, 3 mouths full of sparkling teeth, 3 little girls with NO cavities!

Day 77

Mon. 3/18/2013

The birthday girl with her "cake."

Day 76

Sun. 3/17/2013

The girls were lucky enough this weekend to Skype with both sets of grandparents.  Kassie especially was thrilled to see her grandpas and grandmas, as she has been praying for them every night and telling me for weeks that she needs to go visit them.  On St. Patrick's Day Bonka told them a story about leprechauns complete with several costume changes.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Day 75

Sat. 3/16/2013

Spring has definitely sprung.  The girls were thrilled to spend most of the day outside.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Day 74

Fri. 3/15/2013

The first day of Spring Break was beautiful!  High 70s, sun, a cool breeze - perfect.  The girls have been looking for ways to earn money.  In the fall we had two dead trees cut down, and it left sticks and chunks of wood all over the yard.  We told them we'd pay them to pick up all the sticks, and they got right to work...for about an hour and they only got about a fourth of the yard done.  Now they're not so anxious to earn the money.

Day 73

Thurs. 3/14/2013

I found her hanging out in the tub.  The girl is a nut.  I blame it on her father, whose birthday happens to be the 14th.  We sure missed celebrating with him.  I guarantee he missed celebrating with us as well.

In other news, I had parent/teacher conferences for my girls.  Like everyone else's kids, my children are well-behaved and brilliant.  I blame that on their father as well.  I'm wondering if the reports will be as glowing once the Sass-master joins her sisters in school.  She won't remain a tyrant forever... will she?

Day 72

Wed. 3/13/2013

3-year-old Kassie has been left alone a lot for the last couple weeks.  I have always promoted independence (meaning I'm not one of those good moms who gets on the floor and plays with the kids a lot), but this illness of mine has led to a level of independence that is more than ridiculous.  Kassie has pretty much kept herself busy all day every day for the last 2 weeks with very minimal help from me.  She puts on her own movies and Wii games.  She gets games down out of the closet.  She gets herself snacks, pours her own juice, and gets herself lunch (usually a piece of bread, a yogurt, some pretzels, and an orange).  By 3:00 she has been chomping at the bit for some company.  Her favorite part of the day is when the older girls come home.  She yells, "My teachers are here!" and runs to the door.  I have no idea why she calls them her teachers, but it's awfully fitting.  She learns everything from them.  By the next morning she is ready to send them away again so she can do her own thing, but I love that brief moment at 3:40 when everyone is so happy to see each other.

Day 71

Tues. 3/12/2013

I got a new toy yesterday.  I finally gave up on my stinky, heavy Dirt Devil that would only pick up a third of the stuff on the floor.  This vacuum makes me a little giddy.  I vacuumed and vacuumed yesterday...well, until I got tired, because I'm still sick.  But I'm cleaning rooms today just so I can vacuum them.  Ah, the exciting life of a stay-at-home mom.

Day 70

Mon. 3/11/2013

Treats from our friends in Germany.  Thank you Stokes!

Monday, March 11, 2013

Day 69

Sun. 3/10/2013

Our favorite man's birthday is coming up.  The girls made birthday cards.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Day 68

Sat. 3/9/2013

Saltines and ginger ale.  Keira threw up at 2 in the morning, and had a hard time keeping anything down all day.  I was grateful that I got most of my energy back before this came on, or I probably would have just collapsed in a crying heap.

Day 67

Fri. 3/8/2013

I got dressed!  I drove the car again!  We were able to have our weekly movie and fast food night, just like normal.  I laid on the couch and was miserable, but at least I was out of my bed.

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Day 66

Thurs. 3/7/2013

I have the best friends.  One made a grocery run for me, and came back with way more than I asked for.  I feel like I'm at 40% power now...which feels amazing.  Things are looking up.

Day 65

Wed. 3/6/2013

My dear, resourceful children have been living on corndogs and ramen this week.  And this little concoction that Kimberlee came up with.  Thank you, Cheerio cookbook she checked out from the library.

Day 64

Tues. 3/5/2013

I never get to use my lovely jetted tub.  In fact, the last time I was in it was July...with a kidney stone.  Not exactly the best of experiences.  I figured the flu was a good excuse to use it again.  It didn't take away the aches and pains, but it was definitely the best part of my day.

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Day 63

Mon. 3/4/2013

Keira started feeling better yesterday.  She asked if she could go back to school around lunchtime, but I couldn't take her.  I think she was mostly just starved for better company.  She started pacing when it was time for Kimberlee to come home - she just couldn't wait to have her friend back.

Monday, March 4, 2013

Day 62

Sun. 3/3/2013

This picture wasn't taken yesterday.  In fact, for the first time this year, no pictures were taken yesterday.  That is because I hardly left my bed.  Stupid flu (again).  But if I had taken a picture yesterday it would have looked like this.  Kimberlee is my exceptional helper.  Who knows the horrible things that would have happened without her.

Sunday, March 3, 2013

Day 61

Sat. 3/2/2013

"This beaver (fever) needs to get off of my head!"  I agree Sassy, I agree.

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Day 60

Fri. 3/1/2013

Another month done.  Keira saw me taking this picture and said, "There are still so many left."  Yes ma'am, there are.
