3-year-old Kassie has been left alone a lot for the last couple weeks. I have always promoted independence (meaning I'm not one of those good moms who gets on the floor and plays with the kids a lot), but this illness of mine has led to a level of independence that is more than ridiculous. Kassie has pretty much kept herself busy all day every day for the last 2 weeks with very minimal help from me. She puts on her own movies and Wii games. She gets games down out of the closet. She gets herself snacks, pours her own juice, and gets herself lunch (usually a piece of bread, a yogurt, some pretzels, and an orange). By 3:00 she has been chomping at the bit for some company. Her favorite part of the day is when the older girls come home. She yells, "My teachers are here!" and runs to the door. I have no idea why she calls them her teachers, but it's awfully fitting. She learns everything from them. By the next morning she is ready to send them away again so she can do her own thing, but I love that brief moment at 3:40 when everyone is so happy to see each other.
