Kassie is pretty angry that I didn't sign her up for gymnastics. The older girls get their leotards on, and so does she. They do cartwheels and handstands in the living room, and she does somersaults. Keira complains that her leotard makes her look fat (seriously...eye roll), and Kassie sticks out her tummy as far as it will go. The poor, deprived youngest child.

I discovered this humongous creature in a bush in our backyard. She is about the size of my index finger and reminded me of the banana spiders in Okinawa - they breed large bugs in these hot, humid places! She is still out there, anyone know what she is?

I showed the girls the fine art of fort building (plus we put up the little tent). They played, watched movies and spent the night in it. Now they won't let me take it down.

Ed worked long hours this week, flying almost every day for a big exercise. He was scheduled to work all weekend as well, so we took advantage of a rare day off and went out for Greek food.

Backpacks packed and placed by the door. Outfits picked out and laid out. Lunches planned. Rooms cleaned. Father's blessings given. Kids tucked into bed early again. School year 2013-2014, here we come.

The two littles (in yellow/black and blue/white) attended a birthday party at gymnastics. The begging to sign everyone up for gymnastics has begun again...now the question is, do I want to?

Time for our semi-annual deep cleaning of bedrooms. We cleaned out closets, drawers, and of course under the bed. One of my favorite days - I love getting rid of extra stuff.

Activity Days Back to School Pool Party. The older girls have been waiting all year for this activity - they were really concerned that we were going to miss it while we were in Idaho. You would think we never took them swimming this summer?!

Kass spent the day dancing in her "pretty." I'm pretty sure we never picked out actual clothes for her to wear that day. Her dancing is pretty intense - lots of arm movements and stepping out widely.

Before I even made dinner on Friday every single member of my family told me it was gross. What on earth is so wrong with fish? Mediterranean Herb-encrusted Tilapia, to be exact? To their credit, all but the youngest tried a bite, and Ed and Kimberlee actually said it was good, though I have a hunch they are both just old enough to know how to spare my feelings when necessary.

I kill every plant I touch. So it amazes me that I haven't managed to destroy this little orchid in the last 6 months. Even more amazing, it survived 3 weeks without water or sunlight. Small miracles.

Shawn was sealed to his family in the Boise Temple. Everyone looked fabulous in white, including Ms. Violet who kept trying to hide from my camera afterwards. So glad we were able to be there for this event.
