Day 356

Sun. 12/22/2013

Christmas twinners.

Day 355

Sat. 12/21/2013

We had some big things to celebrate (more on that later) so out we went to our favorite AR Japanese restaurant.  We're so homesick for Okinawa.  This helps to satisfy the cravings.

Day 354

Fri. 12/20/2013

Daddy is much nicer than Mommy - every once in a while he lets Kassie play on his iPad.

Day 353

Thurs. 12/19/2013

THIS guy is pretty dang awesome.  Just so you all know.

Day 352

Wed. 12/18/2013

Kassie has started to tell me she is sick because Baby Hannah is in her tummy. (Hannah is a friend's baby - every once in a while the baby is her cousin Cassidi).  She may have heard me whining a little too much...

Day 351

Tues. 12/17/2013

We are loving the Christmas cards that are rolling in!

Day 350

Mon. 12/16/2013

The girls made their lists long ago, and now I'm checking them twice.

Day 349

Sun. 12/15/2013

On Saturday we had our rescheduled RS Super Saturday.  I gathered up a few Christmas decorations to use as table decorations during the lunch (which I didn't end up using), and as I was hauling away our miniature Christmas tree Keira caught me and said in a sad voice, "Why are you taking our Christmas tree?  Why?"  I giggled as I thought of turning green and stuffing the tree up the chimney.  There have been some very Grinch-like moments this year, just like every year it seems.  On Sunday I still hadn't put the decorations back, and the significance of my nativity missing the most important pieces was not lost on me.  I vowed to be less of a Grinch.

Day 348

Sat. 12/14/2013

Work Christmas Party (and yes, I am getting a lot of mileage out of that dress - you may recognize it from previous parties, and originally from Ed's pilot training graduation over a decade ago).

Day 347

Fri. 12/13/2013

Ward Christmas Party

Friday, December 13, 2013

Day 346

Thurs. 12/12/2013

Kass all dressed up for her preschool Christmas program.

Day 345

Wed. 12/11/2013

Kassie walked into my room and casually said, "Mommy, I wrote your name on my paper."  I glanced at it and sure enough, there was MOM.  So I just as casually asked her to write it again.  And she did.  I asked her if she could write DAD, and she made that squiggly line underneath. :) She walks around telling us how to spell KASSIE, MOM, DAD, and JULIA (but doesn't believe me that her sisters' names all start with K as well).  Quit growing up Sassy-pants!

Day 344

Tues. 12/10/2013

The girls went back to school!  Even Kassie had preschool...AND Ed took leave for the day, which meant we could FINALLY start Christmas shopping.

Day 343

Mon. 12/9/2013

Iced-in, day 4: no school again.  Yet Ed was able to go to work...so I put the girls to work helping with my primary calling.

Day 342

Sun. 12/8/2013

Iced-in, day 3: cancelled church.  So we had our own - Ed assigned topics for each of the girls, Kassie gave the prayer, I played the hymns I would have for church.  I was SO impressed with the girls' talks.  Kimberlee spoke on charity, Keira spoke about faith, and Krista talked about baptism.  One of those moments where you feel like maybe you're not failing at this parenting thing after all.  Later that night we watched the Christmas Devotional and were ready to strangle the girls before it was done.  Can't win them all, right?

Day 341

Sat. 12/7/2013

Iced-in, day 2: cancelled RS Super Saturday.  Christmas movies and pure laziness.

Saturday, December 7, 2013

Day 340

Fri. 12/6/2013

It may not look like much, but that is ice coming down.  It cancelled school and my RS Super Saturday and closed the base.  Which meant we could spend the day playing games, watching movies, and being spoiled by all of Ed's time in the kitchen (cookies, garlic chicken and stir fry, and hot chocolate).  We never complain about impromptu family days.

Day 339

Thurs. 12/5/2013

Missing Okinawa today and dear friends made there.  I love my kokeshi nativity.

Day 338

Wed. 12/4/2013

My friend and I are responsible for providing lunch for our Relief Society Super Saturday, so we did a little shopping.  This is half the potatoes and my fridge is stuffed to the brim.

Day 337

Tues. 12/3/2013

Doctor's appointment.

Day 336

Mon. 12/2/2013

One of our favorite Family Home Evenings of the whole year.

Day 335

Sun. 12/1/2013

Back home in Arkansas, Ed brought in the Christmas decorations so I could prep the tree for FHE on Monday.  This crawled out of my nativity box and scared the bejeebers out of Kassie and I.

Day 334

Sat. 11/30/2013

Off to Dallas to see the Boyds.

Sunday, December 1, 2013

Day 333

Fri. 11/29/2013

Checking out the launch vehicle at NASA's Space Center.

Day 332

Thurs. 11/28/2013

Happy Thanksgiving!  Hope your turkey was as good as my brother's!

Day 331

Wed. 11/27/2013

We're off on a Thanksgiving adventure!  Our first trip to Houston to see my brother Eric.

Day 330

Tues. 11/26/2013

These and my bed made up my list of favorite things today.  My poor kids - having a sick mommy over their vacation is definitely not so fun.

Day 329

Mon. 11/25/2013

Our little turkey found herself a snack.

Day 328

Sun. 11/24/2013

I love that my girls like to read, but I do tend to get a little tired of the piles of books that end up all over the house.

Day 327

Sat. 11/23/2013

Our little lover-of-accessories added yet another one to her collection - new glasses.

Day 326

Fri. 11/22/2013

It's never a happy day when the "puke bowl" has to make an appearance.  (As a side note, notice how close Keira has to hold that book in order to read it.)

Day 325

Thurs. 11/21/2013

Kassie's little bestie has been having some separation anxiety lately, which has made her a little sad as we go to and from school.  I have seen such a sweet, caring, sensitive side of Kassie through it all - Julia cries and Kassie tries her hardest to console her.  This day it wore them both out...it was so peaceful I was a little tempted to leave them in the car.

Day 324

Wed. 11/20/2013

Keira needed a costume for "Colonial Days".  Yep, nailed it.

Day 323

Tues. 11/19/2013

Kassie was so excited to get mail from our Primary Chorister.
