I spent a little time with this big book today - it's Ed's Book of Remembrance. My kids have some amazing ancestors! When I was at BYU in 1999, President Hinckley came and spoke in a devotional. I'll never forget him telling us to not become the "weak link" in the chain of our generations, to stay true to the faith for the rest of our lives, as our ancestors did before us. I felt the power of those words then, when I was the last link of my family chain, but reading the talk again today I felt the responsibility even more. I've got links after me now. They need to know what has come before them, and I need to teach them all I know so they will also not become the weak link.
