The End

So...I'm done.  I actually did it.  I took at least 1 picture every day.  And people have been kind, and said they loved seeing what we were up to every day, and ask me if I'm going to do it again for 2014.  The answer is an emphatic No.  Here's what I've learned this year:

1.  Not only am I bad at remembering to take pictures, I am bad at taking pictures.  My pictures are not awesome.  I meant to get better, take some time to learn my camera better, but in the end I realized I just didn't care that much.  And far too often the "camera" that was on hand was my iPad.  Which takes horrible pictures.

2.  Most days we are really boring.  I am a homebody and don't see that changing anytime soon.  You can only take so many pictures of things in your house, or what food you're eating.

3.  Kassie gets all the camera love.  I'm pretty sure over half of the year's pictures include her.

4.  I used to be able to fit 2 years' worth of pictures on my camera card.  Now I've only got about 9 months.

5.  It is really fun to go back through the year.  I'm lucky because I remember a lot of the feelings associated with each picture as well, or other details surrounding them.  It's been a good family journal.  If I wasn't so relieved to be done I might even do it again, just for the end product.  As it is, I probably won't take a single picture the entire month of January.

Thanks to all who followed along!

  1. Bravo! I LOVE the last party-hard picture of your rock star. I followed along all year and have admired the pictures along the way. I will miss checking in on you cyber-stalker style. Happy New Year!

  2. I totally understand. I wish you would do it another year because I loved it and looked at every.single.picture. even if I didn't comment on them. However, I would hate to have to do it myself, so I understand. We are so bad at taking pictures. I think it's because we don't have a decent camera. We are both not bad photographers but it always seems like we'd rather put that money somewhere else. Last night we were both talking about taking pictures and agreed it's probably time we just break down and buy a camera that is good so we will capture life a little more. Anyway, long comment's point? I'm proud you stuck with it. Totally.

  3. Well, I'm not going to lie, I'm sad to see it end. I loved that you inspired me. I already took way too many pictures, but it made me take them with a different view sometimes. So thanks! I've loved your year in pictures...even if you think it's boring.
And, once again, I'm excited about the baby. Let me know if you need to chat (online or otherwise).
